yup. i fought for our rights in the 80s and 90’s, and continue to fight for them today. trans and non-binaries have always been a huge part of our community, and have done nothing to deserve the scorn/threats that are heaped upon them today. it’s tragic, shocking, and deserving of committed action

Agree: I remember noticing in the 90's, just like today, that more and more gays were less interested in celebrating diversity and more interested in replicating heteronormative behaviors as a way of blending in, gaining acceptance, "hiding" in plain sight. Trans rights are also gay rights.

Totally this. Because some of us realised our friends experienced hatred within the community because they didn’t fit the definition of ‘lesbian’. It turns out human beings are complicated and don’t fit neatly into categories. So big love to everyone in our community. I’ll fight for us all.

Small Town Boy is such an iconic song & must not be sullied by the likes of LGBA. He has always been at the forefront of gay rights, out & proud when it was still dangerous & potentially career ending to be so. The Communards 'Red' album also gave me courage & got me through coming out to family.

This is true with lesbians too. They objected to us wearing lipstick & leathers in the 80’s - violently assault us for being “SM” (ie punks - they don’t know the difference!) The same ones who are now TERFs. Misguided, opinionated folk who want everyone to live life based upon what THEY believe
