But the US is okay with implementing its usage on its own civilian citizens.

You can get an ISHU scarf, but that's mainly for tech that requires flash. There's also gait recognition(knowing how you walk) and voice recognition(knowing how you talk)... data you willingly gave up for Siri & Alexa.

As someone who has been anti-those things (because they're optional and absolutely not) it's really hard to walk people back from "sharing is good and wholesome and fine as long as you don't become the internet's main character of the day."

IMO the best anti-surveillance safeguards require sustainable changes in habits/behavior. Initially they're always "inconvenient" because our economic structures/consumption practices rely on convenience.

AS isn't for "complete evasion", it's engaged to make costs of accessing you prohibitive.

I was on a march protesting Tianamen Square in London in 1989. We went past the Chinese Embassy. The windows of the embassy had staff with cameras taking photos of us. The Chinese origin folk on the march had turned their back on the building and were marching sideways to avoid being snapped. 1989.

It makes you wonder what the tech they have now is capable of. The camera on a Blackbird is about 6 ft long and could photograph details like a license plate from 17 miles up and that was in the mid 60s.

Definitely. And I understand why that is (bias and disregard for Black and brown people, broadly). At the same time I don't know that "legibility" by white supremacist systems of surveillance is a desirable or even liberatory goal for Black people.

Appreciate the resources either way tho.
