The change of government from Tory to Labour in the UK was a huge opportunity to halt then reverse a decade of growing populism, scapegoating of immigrants, diminishing of rights, disdain for minorities, illiberal laws and disregard for the sick and disabled.

Apparently they decided not to take it.
