Of course it's more likely in this case that the official is either a frustrated authoritarian personality and feels emboldened or that the immigration officials want to 'work towards' the führer (see Kershaw). In either case that's how fascism works.

Well, we didn´t exactly find it appealing before and that was a long time ago. Maybe that´s why we´ve never been back. Crappy airport with hugely substandard entry routines (JFK), mostly inedible food, poisoned wine (apparently, admixed with some chemical or other) which made us ill etc etc.
