not nixos- void linux!
i've tried nixos before but struggled to get into it- my understanding is that people love it because the whole system can theoretically be extremely replicable via a series of configuration files. not super important for me, but cool for those who need it!

once you actually get to desktop, the main difference is the package manager (and that's all the difference there ever should be on the linux desktop, imo)
Only thing that goes on my nerves is AUR. Literally everything useful is in there and my low power laptop cant keep compiling shit all the time
