Those who insist on celebrating Australia Day seem to edit out that this is also how the first fleet convicts (one being my ancestor) arrived on jan 26 - in chains. Not much to glorify there. Shame and injustice all around. Nothing to glorify in our colonial past. Change the date ✌🏻

Yep, the landed gentry largely came much later. Jan 26 arrivals were poor people/kids in chains, “guilty” of “crimes” of poverty and hunger- and those commissioned with overseeing them. Images of ladies in posh dresses happily stepping off boats in 1788 is a weird fiction…it was a brutal intrusion

I think it's imperative to keep posting images like this until the bogans in this country accept that these ppl are the original custodians of the land on which we all live.
