It's... yeah. It works sometimes, kind of, and not a lot of other times. I don't really understand how this version works internally, and it's been frustrating.
i remember hearing loose talk from someone on the devtalk forums who said they were building a new shader-to-rgb to play nicer with eevee next but i don't know where that ended up
Well, that sounds a little hopeful at least. I was following development for a while, and I really didn't understand what they were doing with it. It's like it's a transparency layer or something? I dunno.

And the funny thing is, Eevee Next is mostly the same, but now it's got optional raytracing and everyone is like, "Wow, this engine is amaaaaazing"
