So I think what's really important is to "clearly define" the unauthorized use of other people's stuff to create GenAI (whether it's articles, illustrations, photos or sounds), which is illegal. This is not what is called "fair use."

The difference between the two is that these employees will not publicly say "I use pirated programs" because this is a clear illegal act,but now the public does not shy away from using GenAI produced with "pirated materials". Majority people does not realize that this is copyright infringement.

I'm not American and use machine translation(You can guess where I am from my ID and avatar).
This problem can refer to the existence of piracy. Employees of many small businesses also use pirated programs privately,but not all PCs were inspected or confiscated.

Also, one of my students had a submission falsely flagged as being done with AI and had to have a formal meeting to defend their work. This also happened to one of my daughters in high school about a year ago.

True story: I had a nightmare last night where all research, grading, and faculty student evals were being done by Gen AI systems. I kept pointing out to admin and other faculty that the systems were just making things up, but I was ignored because the AI was more efficient!

Generative AI requires a whole lot of things to make it work for Use Cases like the trustworthy language interface. Why? Because it's not fit for purpose as the panacea portrayed.

40 years on from the PC revolution yet we still don't have that trustworthy language interface to control computers.
