I tried to listen to this episode but kept drifting away from it. It was probably the most boring, information free episode I've seen from Ezra Klein. It was basically all hearsay with no factual information.

That's an excellent post. Indeed, it just picked up a citation in the paper i am writing. I am finding the behavioural aspects of this phenomenon far more interesting and significant than the computational aspects

A bit disappointing to hear Klein losing his critical faculties. Both with this misunderstanding of generative AI and his repeated assertions that life is all about "attention" now. He seems to be conflating the media landscape with RL.

Great essay! I read The Algebraic Mind in grad school around when I was working on neural networks. Reading really clear thinking about AI (as opposed to the hype) kinda makes me wish I’d stayed in the cognitive modeling field.
