God the annotated experiment was so unhinged in the best early 2000s internet way. I love how over time the videos would just become incomprehensible walls of annotations any time something insane happened
my favourite thing that used annotations is actually Barack Paper Scissors. it sounds stupid but it's really well made and has good jokes and every season keeps upping the ante
they briefly allowed creators to opt in their videos a feature where viewers could create their own annotations and stick them on the video. it didn't last very long but we got some pretty interesting collaborative art pieces out of it, like an ancient version of r/place
