Location-based errors being like, “Hey, I know you had them get on public transit to get to school, but in Kansas we don’t have public transit that goes by schools, but we do have yellow school buses for students.”

& like, to be clear, these would be like extra little facts and not things that altered the plot. If the premise of the fic was “Character A takes public transit to school and interacts with all the different types of people and strangers on the bus,” don’t leave that comment.
But if Character A just gets on a bus to end a scene just bc they need transportation to get to school and we fade to black and they’re walking into school in the next scene, then I think it’s fair to maybe leave the comment bc it can help with world building.
For me, it’s no longer concrit to say “I don’t think the characters would do x” if it’s about a character’s plot relevant choice that is OOC for you the reader. Bc really, that’s just your opinion. Art is interpretable and what may be OOC to you might be very in character to the author.
Or hell, it might be OOC to the author too, they just wanted to write a fanwork about what if the character did decide to do things this way instead of their in-character reaction. Like it may be a very in character thing for their fanwork’s version of the character to do.
Comments that start like “I didn’t like when you…” to me, is now in sporking territory and isn’t ok. I don’t care what you didn’t like. Learning what a particular reader didn’t like doesn’t make me a better author nor does it make a specific work better.
And of course flaming is hurling insults publicly and is never ok. If a “lol” or “lmao” doesn’t feel out of place in your comment, you’re probably sporking or flaming. Constructive criticism is constructive first and foremost and if it doesn’t build the author up, it’s not constructive.
