European conquest of the islands of the Canarian archipelago lasted almost a century (1402-1496). Genocide in the Canary Islands was via attrition and the aggregate result of violence.

The Canary Islands were one of the 1st places in Atlantic to have plantations of enslaved African in the 15th c.

Now I'm wondering if the writer has confused Palma which is closer to Spain (and Corsica and Sardinia) with La Palma, in the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa, where the show is actually based.
