"Trelane" intregues me SO much here. Rhys Darby will be PERFECT for sure, but the silver hair is what has me thinking. Sure, it DOES look like "Pike's Peak", but if he IS a Q, this could be indicative of an OLDER "Trelane" than seen in "Squire of Gothos". One for whom that has all already happened.

At this point in the franchise it wouldn’t surprise me if they continue to retcon things as this series goes on. They’ve already vamped up the Gorn, moved the goalposts in regards to when the Eugenics Wars started, & they’ve even updated the Klingons again and retconned Enterprise’s Phlox (1/3)

two part episode of how they got their smooth foreheads. I don’t mind the changes for the most part (except for the Gorn, because that classic fight got me as a kid LOL), but if anything, I’d like to see them confirm Trelane is a Q if they do anything new. But that’s just me. (2/3)

My crackpot theory, Trellane intervened because Pike is changing the timeline first by saving Una from prison, then being friends with Kirk, so some things like the events in The Menagerie will be altered… this is all setting up Paul Wesley to take on a show.

My guess: Paramount plans to keep one starship-centered show running while others are “expanded canon” of life in the Academy, civilian office work life in the 25th century, world building series to explore more genres within the Trek universe.

There is a reference to there being a documentary-style episode on the official Star Trek website piece for this trailer so maybe that's the episode where we get the TOS
/classic sci-fi homage, with Trelane having nothing to do with that?
