* Get passports for yourself and your loved ones.

* Legally obtain and practice with weapons to protect yourself and your loved ones in case the worst happens. (2)

* Make (and prepare for) contingency plans - at least 2 plans to flee (different paths, different destinations), and at least 1 plan to fortify, stockpile, and hunker in place in the event that you can't flee. Info about your plans should be strictly need-to-know. (3)

* Study your history. Human behavior, on a large scale, follows patterns. Identify those patterns and watch for them so you know what's likely to come next. Don't wait until it's too late to flee/hide/fight.
