I've seen the same nonsense in some American drug stores. Walgreen's is the worst. The first time I noticed the insanity, they were once selling Streets of New Capenna Theme Boosters for $14.99 and draft boosters for $9.99. [Normal pricing in the typical big box stores was $4.50-$5.00 at the time.]

In British London, 3 packs of RVR from an MTG retailer will set you back about 15 quid, which is apparently ~$26.50 CAD. Those prices are post tax however, don't know if that's factored into the $30 CAD

Magic isn't really something you see outside of gaming/nerd stores here tho. You'll see Pokemon TCG, and if you're very (un)lucky, the odd Yu-Gi-Oh pack. Amazon UK didn't even sell MTG until the official partnership a few years back

Having to pay $9 cad at my LGS for a play booster is just too much. I remember paying $6 for regular boosters before play boosters came out..

Set boosters from my LGS were around 6.99+tax so even then it went up with play boosters. could just be my LGS though, not 100% sure

they also didn’t have MSRP during that change, so that could’ve been set-to-set variance or inflation or just your LGS yeah
