I get what you are saying. But French folks would not lose their jobs, healthcare & literal lives all at once if they protest. Universal healthcare & leave programs can allow them to do so. And don't forget the US has a long history of killing those who dissent. It is not the same.

I follow French politics a lot, as many of you know. Any effort for mass layoffs of public sector employees there would create such huge strikes and marches, the level of disruption and paralysis would be biblical.
