Good idea. The GLTF LSL is considerably more unwieldy than the BlinnPhong legacy functions. They would need to sit down and write helper functions for lots of shit b4 even trying to implement proper equivalents.

The easiest dirty way of doing This would be to assume a starting GLTF base and issuing function calls blindly to change the few things that change across your various material options. They aren't going to be too wildly different right?

There were many dirty easy helped functions to change how things looked in Blinn Phong. A lot of that was omitted in pushing GLTF out.

Basically the same conclusion I've come to LOL. Especially since LL has been talking about making llSetColor and llSetLinkPrimitiveParams(fast) modify the tint color of PBR here soon ... I'm gonna hold off until they've got everything close to finished xD

Expect new functions rather than overloading of legacy functions. LL prefers not to change expected behavior of functions except for stability or guaranteed improvement.

It wasn't so much as "overloading", rather, functions themselves would "just work" on the tint option for PBR. I think new functions would absolutely be the best route. Until those functions come out, I'm not going to hack something together that I'm going to need to change in a few weeks.

Agreed. Imagine writing a helper function,and then several weeks later going back in to block comment out entire chunks with "no longer needed, the llFunction works faster for this".

MiceOnABeam or Firestorm Preproc would accelerate this change across all the code you write, but it would still be annoying.
