Are we getting lost in language? A miscarriage is not a medical term. On a chart that is called a spontaneous abortion. Abortion only means termination of a pregnancy, it is NOT a specific procedure. Early delivery is an option in some cases, just hope a good NICU is there. So tired of the emo BS.

Why in the case when the baby has to come out to save the life of the mother, why do we first have to make sure the baby is dead by killing it, and then removing the body? I would want to advocate for giving the baby and the mother as much life-saving care as possible. Is this unreasonable?

The AMA should reassess the name they placed on the life saving procedures related to miscarriage. The lay person does not get that a d&c post miscarriage is not an abortion as they understand it. Calling it a missed abortion is counter productive to women’s care.
