I spent a summer working at an archaeological dig in Trapper's Creek, Alaska. The post office was our lifeline - being able to send express letters & communicate with family and friends (and ask for more of the good kind of bug spray) was essential. I'm sure USPS lost money on every delivery there.

i work in direct mail so i'm on a different side of USPS every day and have so many quibbles with them, but the logistics of their ops and the fact that they get almost everything where it needs to go on time is constantly shocking. fedex and ups could never match their level of service tbh
