So, from those 25 years of work, I'd love to share what I appreciate, skill wise in different creative disciplines. <3
Designers in general:
Curiosity and a genuine interest in users AND stakeholders.
Understanding of sustainability.
Be humble. Its not a pissing contest.

In the digital era, you are the alchemic wizards. If you have a background in industrial design but now work with another title, annouce it!
Let us know that you speak design language.

Thread lightly. Lift people up. Good service design finds its ambassadors, also among the designers in production. Make people feel seen. Good service design is a production joint adventure. Not an outside research, presentation and "do this" or delivery.

When a UI, a UX and product owner teams up, it can be design heaven. If you are lucky enough to have both UX and UI designers, team up! Even if production might not see the need. Nerd out together! <3
KISS, Keep it simple stupid. I know its easy to be sidetracked in features, but make design documents that are easy to work with. It is ok if design documents aren't clean and perfect. Just have some common standards. Share WIPs. Let people see your work. Be logical. Spare no babies.
Dont gatekeep information/data. Make sure to tap into product owners work and plans. Give them what they need to sell the direction the product needs. Be patient. Don't discard developers input off the bat, it might save a lot of time to know the technical options.

I see you. You are competent beyond "knowing how a program works". Its hard to get people to understand the true value of design work, kudos for hanging in there.
Now don't forget to rehydrate yourself you beautiful flower ;)
