I’m a straight woman who worked as a CNA/Home Health Aide in the early 90s in Los Angeles during the AIDS epidemic. I had a lot of patients who had HIV & AIDS on my caseload, especially when I did home hospice.
It makes me sad to read this but it tracks with my own experiences - i (still! Gen Xer!) find a lot more and/or crueler internalized homophobia in gay men than other gay women.

I know one such woman who took care of over 400 in the 80s and 90s.
May their memories be blessings, all.
The epitome of selfishness.
