“Biden can’t protect all of America against Trump. But the people about whom Trump and his lackeys are already openly drooling and braying for revenge—those Biden could preemptively protect.” @eggerdc.bsky.social

I had thought that this might be an idea to protect the people on Trump's revenge list. But accepting a pardon suggests you actually committed the crime for which you were pardoned, which I would think is a huge downside. For ethical people, at least.
Biden is done with everyone's bullshit. They forced him out. Kamala still lost. They're crucifying his son, and demanding he stay out of it. His legacy is tarnished, and, I think he's all out of F's.
So the criticism yesterday was that it was a bad move for Biden to pardon his son. Is it now morphing into Biden needing to pardon a bunch more people? If so, fine. But then why pillory him yesterday?
Plenty of criticism of the Trump fraud and hush money prosecutions came from the right, arguing they were common and trivial offenses and hair splitting charges, much like the criticism of the H. Biden prosecution from the left.
I mean specifically about the piece calling for pardons of other individuals who to my knowledge have not broken the Law. Gen Millet, Liz Cheney, etc...
That’s the existential risk to the rule of law going forward under an autocratic regime: contrived offenses, fabricated evidence, looming retribution in search of pretext
I hope you're right, but I'm not confident "protection" is ever really possible against people who will simply violate the law, safe in the knowledge that institutions will not intercede.
We've seen the judiciary - a branch with no power in the streets - under stress, and it's been ugly.
Biden should give a f’d up pardon every day.
1. Ivanka. No one will get it. Very meta
2. Diddy. Way more awful than Hunter
3. Aileen Cannon. Makes her look guilty.
4. Justice Thomas. Another guilty f
Transfer all the prisoners in GTMO to jail in DC and let Trump deal with that.
No, but accepting one can be considered an admission of guilt. Considering the legal troubles he’s already had due to pressure on DOJ and his past drug addiction problems, he absolutely should accept it. Add Trump’s vindictiveness, it’s the obvious best move on his part.
Oh, thank you!
I am aware that Hunter has already been found guilty and he definitely deserves the pardon.
My question was regarding the journalists, Congress members, and DOJ employees that Sarah was saying should be pardoned.
There it is, thanks so much!
"While the Justice Department generally requires that people who apply for clemency have acknowledged their crimes and shown remorse to receive a recommendation for approval, numerous Trump pardons went to people who have continued to deny wrongdoing in their cases."

PS. Please ask GC to stfu when he interrupts you. It’s rude. We tune in to hear both of you.

Is this wrong?

Topic was protective pardons for whatever bogus charges may be invented.

There may be a difference between clemency and pardon.
Semantics.
