“Winners make policy. Losers go home.” This week on the focus group pod we hear from Dem voters about what they want. Spoiler alert: they want to win. With the very smart @adamjentleson.bsky.social

How about using data collection tools related to microtargeting in order to tailor specific posts for conservative spaces online? We can't convince them to move away from Trump, but we can start planting seeds of doubt. We need to try anything we possibly can do to soften the GOP base.
@sarahlongwell25.bsky.social YES, the pushing of nice agendas overtly has harmed the Democratic brand. Dems should always embrace generalist language, we, us, Americans etc, and avoid absolutist implicitly judgmental terms like woke (as if anyone who is not self-identified as such is dazed/sleepy).
Watching the Focus Group podcast with Adam Jentleson from Canada this morning
Liberals have been in power here for 3/4 of our history.
I've voted for them and for conservatives over the years. I've never known the religion of anyone I've voted for or their sexual orientation. 2
I know you’re talking about voting, but it’s hard to prevail against widespread institutional capture. As a Republican, you know what the party has done.
As for messaging, Dems have to learn that critical thinking is not the strong suit of their voters.
I'd like to suggest Thomas Zimmer and Rachel Bitecofer as guests. Good to think about swing voters, but I think we need to spend more time on figuring out non-voters. Going after the middle/swing doesn't seem to win for Ds even though that is longstanding belief.
Love the podcast.
2 pts:
1. Dem voters' opinion re who'd win POTUS is irrelevant compared to everyone else's opinion. Dems will vote Dem anyway.
2. I think you're over-complicating: People wanted someone who will tell the truth, fight, & advance healthcare & social justice. That's "a Bernie"(AOC?)
Interesting group of dems w/some curveballs & @mcuban.bsky.social at the end. Could be interesting if he threw his hat in the ring for 2028. Sounded pretty positive for him. It gave me a much needed drop of hope imagining Trumpless future though.
I want brave ass party that knows how to fight sexism, racism, misogyny & lies.
I’m tired of Nancy Pelosi politics. She was a master of the game when both teams were playing it, but she failed at leadership when she failed to evolve with the game.
We need politicians with real street fight in them.
Love your focus group pods. Can’t wait for them to land every Saturday morning. As a Bulwark subscriber I love most of everything you guys put out. Keep up the hard work. We are the resistance
Hillary and Kamala never won a true primary. Biden 2 didn’t either. It does vet the more winnable candidate. Also, Trump has made politics entertainment and we need to play that game - we need charisma, and media savvy. Either a celebrity or just someone who gets this game.
I am looking forward to watching this. Interesting as I am a huge liberal and just recently started to watch and read the Bulwark. I am loving it and love that I find a lot of common ground with everyone. Thanks for being out here informing us.
Sarah, I think the winner would be term limits for Congress and the Supreme Court, Citizen United gone and stopping the flow of politicians and staff into lobbying
Almost everyone I have ever discussed political issues with from any side of the political spectrum has agreed on those as good issues

“Why aren’t the federal workers standing up to fight?!” Because they aren’t podcasters and have livelihoods to protect during a time of uncertainty.
Political folks like you need to get a grip.

I don't have a fireplace.

Man after this old op's heart....

@jvl.bsky.social is right we are more sexist than racist country.
