in the past week, we raised nearly $20K CAD, or about $14K USD, which is insane and tremendous and also only covers the travel fees for one adult ($5K) and three kids ($2700 each). the last stretch will get them all out. all of them. they can all be safely reunited with their family in Egypt.

on IG and TikTok, I’ve shared a condensed version of my conversation with Ibrahim Isbitah, a journalist and one of the beneficiaries of this fund. he and his wife and kids managed to flee to Egypt, where his wife gave birth to a little boy they were too scared to name for the first days of his life.
