Photogs & models, let’s play a game. I’m gonna post a shot from my first #fineartnude shoot ever in 2005. I had nothing but a rudimentary understanding of lighting and NO idea how to work with a model. Let’s see some shots from YOUR first shoot in the comments! What went right and what went wrong?

I wasn't prepared for the bad weather (light levels kept changing). I used to think the problem, here, was she was too far away. Now, I think it might have been better if she was closer to that wonderful tree (and in focus).
What went wrong - the models had transport issues. What went right - just about everything thanks to @ottomellar.bsky.social. but especially the pics.
Take the camera and lighting gear that I have now.
Take even more images.
Use more custom lights & carry light stands.
Also shoot at the secondary and tertiary locations (not enough time as we ran late).
*Communicate better! - I'd be more confident now

Had I done a shoot with a bad model, that might have been the end of it right there. But my first shoot was fun and it only encouraged me to really go for it.
Was very fortunate to have a wonderful model to work with.
I'm pretty sure it was with a 8MP APS-C Canon 350D
Camera I think was Canon 5D
I use to work on feature films as Art Director.
So my first lights, where lights from movie sets. harsh constant lights. Lit everything like a horror movie.

I think my focus locked on the wrong subject 🤣
I had been shooting for some years before that with a small group of friends that just enjoying having a safe outlet for photography, so I had the technical stuff down.
I was nervous AF, but she made the shoot so easy and fun
So not my first shoot, but a NINPAH, where fun fact it was over 100, and this shot isn't super crunchy that is just sweat dripping off of me, other shots from this shoot and others from the day confirm it :) Gross! ;)
