I understand why Telford victims feel overlooked. Their plight also emerged later & didn't receive regional (eg mayoral) support and coverage that'd give voice to their experience. The Jay Report launch may've helped - if the Truss antics hadn't got in the way & Sunak's govt followed up properly.

Presumably this isn't referencing Dorries, who made her responses, as a Tory representative, about herself. The victim would have consented to their views being aired as Victoria Derbyshire wouldn't have referred to them otherwise. Isn't the problem the fact that previously they weren't listened to

2/2 Of course they should be listened to. My concern is they are asked honestly, not played as a political football. I trust Prof Jay; that she will have established a coherent and competent set of proposals to identify such evil perpetrators and go some way to put a stop to them.

Looks as if you have not read her report or recommendations. The victims have identified the evil perpetrators (past & present), many of whom have already been prosecuted. Implementing recommendations will go some way to putting a stop to them.

I trust Prof Jay & think existing recommendations should be implemented, as per her instruction.

I think calls for another inquiry are such cynical BS, which serves a political end, not child safety.

1/2 Not(!) about ND - agree she made it about h'slf. Did BBC ask victim? What was the question? E.g. "Would you like another inquiry?", or, "Would you like another 3 yr inquiry, or would you like to see action taken, e.g. as per Prof Jay's report?" The question could have been leading.

It’s not just victims of the grooming gangs, Jess. It’s victims across the wide field of abuse. As a survivor of boarding school abuse, covered up for 40 years, it disgusts me that none of these people has ever shown the slightest bit of concern for other victims eg of old men at elite institutions.
