There's a decent chance that driving a gas car for the last decade had less of a negative impact on the planet than supporting Elon Musk's rise to power by buying a Tesla

There may have been no way for the average person to know Elon would become what he's become, but it was entirely possible to recognize that his sales pitch was too good to be true. If we can't tell when a pitch is too good to be true, even the best principles and goals can be weaponized against us.
I feel like the writing was always on the wall. Many people just looked past it because of his wealth and corporate titles. There were always rumors he had a troll farm that would seek out negative posts about him. Now it feels like they were early Russian farms, grooming his image for this moment
And also the fact he named it ‘Boring Company’ like he was just fucking bored and started handing out hats on twitter. I was like omfg, haven’t stopped calling out since and become an enemy of my Tesla fan buddies. 😁
6 years ago Musk called an innocent cave rescuer a paedophile for no reason, in a fit of pique. It was then very clear that he was a very nasty individual and those paying attention should have been warned off. I certainly was.
That was the turning point for me, too. He wanted his engineers to come up with a whole submarine to drag into that flooded cave and didn’t like that standard scuba gear was enough to rescue the children. Messed up priorities and a disgusting lack of maturity.
You still sometimes hear people longing for the old Elon, the one who was going to take us to Mars, as if any of that was ever real. And frankly the fact that people believed it was itself a massive tell. People with functioning human psyches just aren't able to distort reality like that.
Wasn't there? I mean, the guy got his riches from blood emeralds. Once, he called a guy who one-upped him in saving kids trapped in a cave a pedophile (he implied it, but with absolutely no subtlety).
he was always odious for this very reason, his preening, unctuous insistence on his own majesty, his wild, capricious swings from idea to idea to idea. Even if you look at him ten years ago, he's clearly not the "TechnoKing" but instead a plate-spinning huckster.
Very few have followed him ever since he wrestled Tesla from its founders though. Very many wanted to believe the greenwasher’s dream to shop oneself towards sustainability.
I don’t dislike EVs. I used to show people around Tesla’s coupe back when Yuri’s night was a thing. I think the tech is great. But Teslas weren’t ever as good as hyped.
My 20+ year old BMW door handles line up perfectly, unlike a single Model X ever built.
Nothing pisses Tesla off more than buying a burnt X, fitting it with the F150 Lightning system and your own OS. But John Deere lost the precedent so… Jailbreak the Tesla.
This is 100% true and the fact that msm and elected Dems didn't realize this a couple years ago and stop calling this guy a genius/giving him gov handouts was unbelievably pathetic and part of why we are here
It certainly created less mass air, land, and water pollution, that's for sure. Largest organized 30 county toxic waste dumping scheme in CA history, Deplorians are for deplorable people.
Trump harnessed the conservative movement by the brass ring of "pro-life" and Musk harnessed the progressives by the brass ring of "saving the earth." Same method, same outcome.

It depends on how heavily you weight a trans person’s life, to be fair. to people who see us as kinda inconvenient it’s probably still better to have driven the Model Y
If I see somebody driving a new Tesla now I immediately think they are either an idiot or making an overt political statement (or both). Public pressure needs to do it's thing.
I thought that most of Musk’s wealth is from TSLA stock. And that most of the rise of TSLA stock since 2020 is not attributable to car sales, but only to vibes among the cult member who drive up the stock price?
we probably shouldn't be at all surprised that middle school teachers in Priuses accomplished more than realtors in Teslas (subsidized by middle school teachers)
I've been driving the same EV for the past 9 years (it's 12 years old now) and the solar roof on my house has generated 146% of the lifetime energy the car has used over 74,000 miles. Please rethink your stance. Prior to ~2020 almost half of all EV owners also had home solar.
Whatever a reduction of 26.3 tonnes of CO2 equals. I have no idea. Not something I intend to do the math on, personally. My car runs carbon negative, that's all I truly care about. *I* created more zero-emission energy than it will ever consume in its lifetime (which is hopefully another 12 years).
How many tons of CO2 were used in mining the rare earth minerals, producing the steel, and burnt by container ships to produce that EV? Probably more efficient to drive a used 4 cylinder car for 200-300k miles just to offset the carbon cost of manufacture and transit of a new EV.
There are lots of other, even better EVs. If you can afford a Tesla, you can afford one of the Lucid models. If the billionaires want to help the planet, maybe they should focus on helping middle and lower class families afford to make the switch. But we all know Elon doesn't really care.

And yet there are still muskovites who defend his Nazi salute!
We were gonna be fucked, somehow; it was just a matter of time. Billionaires 'accelerated' it.
Money corrupts. He was always a bro. There are no good rich bros.
These things I believe.
Commuting on a 40mpg motorcycle for two years, then going remote and driving V8-powered vehicles less than 100 miles a week.
Less energy expended than building a new Tesla. A few hundred gallons of gasoline. Either way, I get to say I never financed fascism.

How many degrees did this reduce global temperatures.
Ballpark
About the same amount of CO2 as is expelled on a single cross-country Elon Musk jet flight.
Again, the impact is much less than most realize. HTH
Musk is an Enemy of Democracy and Earth.
Any fool buying a Tesla these days is giving aid to this traitorous LibertAryan who lies, cheats, and has no moral compass to make his billions.
Musk ignores safety, environmental, and human rights protocols and mocks working people everywhere.
