In the olden days, booze bottles were to be found only in desk drawers of newspaper reporters smoking a cigar as they slaved through the night hunt and pecking on a typewriter to get articles ready for print.
I just had to withdraw from a job (part time to keep me busy) that I had been hired for, for using medical cannabis. They make zero exceptions for something that doesnβt affect you like alcohol does. If I canβt do a customer service job from home, he shouldnβt lead the worldβs strongest military.
I respectfully disagree. The expectation to abstain from drinking on the job is often discriminatory and unfair to individuals who may have a medical condition or religious belief that prohibits drinking. It's important to prioritize inclusivity and respect in the workplace.
It's funny how he says won't drink "while he's secdef" as if he's in total control of his drinking and just decides to get blackout drunk on a regular basis.
Best part about my job is that no matter how busy we get, we're always done by 5:30pm because 5:30 is provided-by-the-employer-beer-O'clock. We toast the hard work we did and discuss any problems we're having or anything we learned that day, it's the only community activity I have anymore
Even when I was a bartender, decades ago, we weren't allowed to drink on duty. We could have a cocktail or a pitcher of beer after our shift was over & all the patrons had left for the night.
WANTED: Doctors and nurses for a newly built hospital. Must be able to drink on the job. Drinking vodka to hide the smell is a plus. Will consider pouring whiskey in coffee applicants.
Iβd love to get drunk and blow shit up. Especially with the largest defense budget on the planet. Maybe I should apply for the job. I donβt assault ppl tho. So close to qualifying! Ugh.
When I was the hot shot timeshare guy before that day in September 2002, well even my floor covering and real estate careers, I hit the crack pipe before every sales presentation.
I donβt read the news anymore- is that what he said, he wonβt drink while working? Meaning he WILL drink after work, meaning heβll show up hungover every day? Oh great.
As a middle school teacher, I've often wondered how strict that rule really is. A mid day whiskey would sure make my days and probably my students days better :)

If all federal lawmakers had holidays, PTO, health care, pay etc etc indexed to the 70th percentile in their state youβd see massive changes

"I like beer"
Not defending this by any means but highly suspected it under the surgical mask.
