Why would you go to Paris to connect for London? Id have thought Berlin - Brussels - London would be quicker

In theory. Although it relies on a short 20-30 min connection in Köln that trains from Berlin can be relied on not to make because they're delayed. So you often need to put in an annoying 1.5 wait in Köln to ensure the connection.

Yes, comfortable connection to London with a ten minute walk in Paris. Though it would be a long day.
Even Edinburgh/ Glasgow on the sleeper.

That would assume the DB train arrives with no more than a 10-minute delay. Sadly, that is highly unlikely.
