I also follow @possumeveryhour.io and scrolling at 4 am I thought this was a picture of a possum. I do love the cure! And am aging myself! But truth, this picture looks kinda like a possum.
He’s so fantastic. I’ve seen them a few times but my favorite was on my birthday in 2019. It started raining (everyone stayed) & it was clear he was having an absolute blast performing as the rain came down. It was also my 1st time to hear “Burn” live so that was awesome.
My husband liked The Cure just fine before that show but as a human who can hear (and a blues lover) that show blew his mind. He kept commenting on how talented & also into it he was.
So many! The man is off the charts talented. Flute solo in Burn was also fantastic. I had a “holy shit is this happening” surge of excitement almost immediately & then he just kept going. 😂
And that's what it sounded like too as opposed to later on when they just shared a single drum (youtube vids with Flea)
The big trash cans was right at the time when that commercial with the kid "I play a bucket" hit the airwaves and somebody came up with the idea for STOMP from it.
Let him be his age - it's not like he arbitrarily chose to get older. It's where he is on the time line. We all hop on at different points. We are just lucky to share some of our time with him.
I took my daughter to see them last year. He looked ass but sounded AMAZING and my 14yo inner self could barely stand to exist sharing the same oxygen. Having grown up money is the business.
I mean this with love, but how he looks, and whether he looks his age or not, isn't important. His stunning performance is. Pls think about focusing on that in the future. Ty. 💕💖💕
I’ve been borderline obsessed with the new record. I recently saw someone post that regardless of him looking like a Halloween decoration that just woke up, his voice was as strong as it was 30+ years ago.
That's great to know! I've been a little saddened by some of the "retro" acts I've gone to see from my young adult years. I'll make sure to hit up a Cure concert as soon as I can!
If you have about 6 hours, please listen to the Yasi Salek's Bandsplain about The Cure with Hanif Abdurraqib. It's such a good deep but not pedantic dive.

They rolled out three 55 gal Rubbermaid trash cans to play "trip away".
Massively awesome.

I begrudgingly admit it was worth the wait.
It deserves all the love it is getting.
