By me: Cycle paths are pointless if women don't feel safe using them at night. If you want to give people the choice to cycle, there need to be good options for everyone

Not just about women's safety, even just basic stuff like risk of broken glass on the path is a pain.
Parallel paths are good. I do like it when they feel "nature"y like many along canals (Edam has a nice one). Though I guess the Dutch landscape helps for safety-feel, less growth to hide in.
