Why do I keep stressing the eligibility of Magic Story when I have solo projects eligible in the same space? There are only so many slots, after all: pushing a group project may mean my solo work is omitted.

(And really, that would make me unbearably sad. Worldcon is in my backyard this year. That means I can wear a REALLY FANCY dress, rather than thinking about how it will pack down for transport. I did good work in 2024, and I'm still hopeful of a nomination, if only because I love a good ballgown.)
At the end of the day, tie-in work is often overlooked, even when it's incredibly good and expanding the property it ties into. Alan Dean Foster was a king of tie-in work. Part of what inspired me to become an author was the novelization of GREMLINS. It's a true art form.
The team that works on Magic Story, both from an architecture standpoint and from an authorial standpoint, is intensely committed. They're trying to show you fantastic worlds the way they could be, in spite of the way the real world is.
Magic Story, collectively, is something none of us could possibly have written alone. It is huge and complex and perfect and indelibly flawed, and I'd love to see it get recognized, if only because every bit of recognition tells Wizards of the Coast that we deserve our budget share.
WotC is a huge corporation, but Magic Story is made up of solo creators all trying to work together even when we disagree (@grayhaem.bsky.social keeps waiting for me to throw a chair when the topic turns to Nahiri), and we all mean so incredibly well, and have so much work left to do.
So no, I'm not going to say I want a nomination for Magic Story more than I want a solo nomination, but I'll keep reminding you that it's eligible, and magnificent, and free to read. Even if it doesn't make the ballot, maybe a few of you will click to see why I'm making such a fuss.
For what it's worth, I love the work that you and the Magic Story team are doing.
A bunch of friends and I read the chapters as they are released and comment them together. We are really excited about how it's developing.
