ok so, I think what happens with Discover is
(a) it starts from your immediate follows
(b) then fans out to 1-2 degrees of separation
(c) then goes to generic topics (news, politics, space, cats, dogs)

so if you follow big hub accounts like furry list and bridgy, you get stuck at a (b) crapshoot
