Aye, 62 coming up for me, been most places but mainly all over Scotland from the Borders to the far North, Ireland I know a bit, Lakes, well, I've walked, cycled and motorbiked around there since I was a passenger in dad's old VW Beetle when I was about 7! Hardly need an OS map for most of it!
I do have a few nice quiet places to stop in the bank, some very recommended roads too.
Oh, and Wales - Pembrokeshire - I mean Snowdonia and the Black Mountains, down near the Brecons, but Pembrokeshire is a gem. Also some great bits in mid-Wales/Shropshire.
Aye my idea is to ride for a day from the East coast doing Hartside, then Kirkstone & Struggle over to Wrynose and Hardknott sleep up somewhere near cockermouth then ride the west coast of the lakes and back home šš»
That would work, fair route, there's a few nice minor roads between Ambleside to the Wrynose/Hardknott passes and you really need to do Wasdale, but then southwards by Ulpha and Corney Fell mountain road and up Ennerdale Bridge to Cockermouth.
Whinlatter and Honister are of course lovely. š
