This system was crazy when it hit up here in Michigan earlier! Sirens went off and I moved the car to the garage and ran inside in time to see the wall of rain advance like a sheet of concrete and break over the house — luckily it passed very fast and we kept power, but this set of storms is gnarly!

Sirens went off at work in Maryland a few yrs back, & my colleagues all came tromping down the hall to see what I thought we should do (grew up in Okla.). Nothing nearby on radar, so no need to do anything!

You will appreciate this. Yrs ago in college in TX. Lots of classmates from out of state. One classmate who survived the Moore tornado. Sirens go off. Folks look to me, OK walks in “hey there’s a tornado out there if anyone needs to move their car a block down to safety”.

I’ll note that I could pop right out of my office to have a good view of the sky to the west/southwest, so that felt good to be able to see what was coming from the “Bad Direction.” Many areas on the east coast have obstructed views that make it hard to see if something is coming.
