Can’t. It’s interconnected to Ontario and Quebec. We’d be in the dark as well which would further devastate the Canadian economy
Maybe it IS time to invest in a new grid that separates them

I suppose it could be an export tariff of some kind, but the system is import based (except lumber - and that's weird).

They would just shut down the power going from Canada to America. I think we supply about 90% of America's imported power.

Quebec makes power cheap. When the Northeast grid for the US gets overwhelmed, like say now in winter, they buy power from Canada to supplement so they don't have rolling blackouts. The US buys it from Canada. Not the other way around. Now what if Canada shuts off that pipeline.... 🇨🇦👊🏻 #ElbowsUp

Add to this: The US buys crude oil from us. It is the only stuff they can use in certain refineries. The refineries are not made to deal with Texas crude. The businesses that bring in this oil will have to pay the 10% extra. It is an import tax for them. Canada doesn't pay it.
