Yeah it’s much easier to make meaningful change with an authoritarian government and no elections! That’s both a blessing and a curse. China also went big into EVs and renewables, the air quality improvement impressive but national emissions still increased massively and much bigger than India

Number 1 in carbon emissions, but still manage to keep the air breathable. Kind of contradictory. Unless India has a significantly smaller land mass, the observable air pollution doesn't correspond with the reported emissions. Perhaps, India under reports its emissions.
