Always appreciated him.
In recent years I have wondered why I didnβt see he anymore in movies, then I realized he could be too old or sadly sick to work.
This made me feel sad, and now Iβm even more.
Has to be Crimson Tide for me. First film of his I saw growing up and he was amazing in it. Honourable mention to The Quick and the Dead too, for playing such a great bad guy
He's one of the few actors who could make a bad movie good (like Denzel), a good movie great, and when you get that perfect synchronization with a great script, director, and co-stars, you have an all-time movie.
I recently re-watched "The Quick and the Dead" and it has aged surprisingly well as a stylized, almost comic-book like western. I think I like it more now than I did when it was new.
My favourite is his role in The Firm. The ambiguity of his character, the moral dilemma he goes through all played out in a masterclass of film acting. RIP Sir and thank you for sharing your talent with us.
What a wonderful performer.

My heartfelt condolences to Mr. Gene Hackman, his wife and his beloved dog. I was deeply impressed when I saw Mississippi Burning on TV when I was in elementary school. He gave a wonderful performance in every film.

For me, it's "The Conversation".
But so many other great movies.
He's great in everything. Shout out to Runaway Jury, Enemy of the State, Crimson Tide.
And Gene Hackman is great in it, of course.
A master of his craft!
