Lance can either be similar to GS where you explicitly use counter attacks to buff your damage or you just. Reflexively block everything normally and just kill them with a million pokes
Lance was probably my best weapon in World, alongside Heavy Bowgun. It was so unpopular because it isn't flashy, but it literally cheats the entire combat system by always making it your turn to attack. Poke, poke, poke, block, counter, poke... No downtime, all action, amazing weapon, 10/10.
You honestly start feeling like a maniac once you get good with a hammer, you run straight to the face and WALLOP it and you can absolutely bully monsters into multiple stuns 🤣
Getting the red buff? yes, but if you mean a different item, idk abt it
also i tried out a new playthrough to use the IG, and when every single ground attack bounced off of barroth on EVERY part of its body i was like BRUH. only the air attacks worked but why do the fun moves do less dmg :(
I really need to make a new character and start fresh. I’ll try Lance because of you. My only character is level 2 and I started the game recently and couldn’t even figure out how to start a quest. I need that tutorial again.
Lance is great!
I love the flexibility of the Charge Blade as it combines the cut factor of the greatsword with the defense of Lance and mobility of sword and shield.
It's movesets once learned are also strong as hell.
Insect Glaive is REALLY nice for that Dragoon fantasy, longsword is my OG main.
Gunlance AKA Funlance has its moments, but I'm pretty sure playing Great Sword makes you better at every other weapon for exactly the reasons mentioned in the comic. 😊
Great Sword was just starting to click for me last night in Wilds. I was starting to really enjoy it. I really want to give each of the weapons a try and actually learn how to play with them.
It's reeeeally great for forcing you think about placement. Great Sword made me a much better Charge Blade player, as it forced me to learn where to stand and when. You basically don't hit without learning it.
I enjoyed Bow in Worlds, but I'm excited to learn Bowgun in Wilds for more range.
I decided to pick up charge blade as a secondary leading into wilds having secondary weapons and nothing beats wiffing a SAED, you miss 100% of the shots you do and don't take and I love it.

And as a Hunting Horn main I'll add my thought process
"doot doot till the monster dies"
I'm gonna charge all my weapons and miss my attack

Yes: bonk
No: bonk
Happy to see more people getting into Monster Hunter and even more into World. I might be a little biased on that one because it was my first.
