I made a fun little video about the English words that have been imported to German that are used incorrectly (like "handy") and I got absolutely inundated with hate comments.

In addition to people telling me to "go back to where I came from" I also got a lot of angry German speakers telling me that English has also imported a lot of German words that have lost their original meaning.
In the spirit of fairness, I decided to make another video, this time about all the German words that have been imported to English and are used incorrectly. Guess how many of them I found?
Without going into upsetting detail, can I just ask... what the actual heck were they hating you for? Surely your video is just factual examples, right?
They were angry that someone dared to tell them that the words they were using were wrong. It's not my fault that "burner" in English doesn't mean a cool song, rather references a disposable phone, or that "older timer" doesn't mean "classic car", rather an old and out of touch person. 😂
As a side note (and prob. not your wheelhouse) I run a SF roleplaying game, and like to sprinkle in odd English words that are misused, to represent linguistic drift and for flavour. I now have all the players using 'Handy' to refer to their futuristic mobile comms/computing devices!
