I wasn't there for the Tea Party, but I'm pretty sure the Red Coats were the British... Or are they participating in this context because Europe hates Tesla too...? 😎
"Yes, the Boston Custom House, though in a different location than today, definitely existed during the Boston Tea Party in 1773. The Custom House played a role in the events leading up to and during the tea party"...
LOL, well I guess that's true in that there was another custom house at the time, and the tea party was a response to tax/duties. In any case, the custom tower doesn't overlook ft. point channel, where the tea was dumped
In '78, I'd just graduated from broadcasting school in Boston, subsequently having to pass an FCC exam conducted in the Custom House (3rd floor, I think) to be permitted to work in radio...
anti image generation and large language models trained on stolen and scraped human creations, pro machine learning with ethical training data for narrow use cases in research and industry, anti describing machine learning as AI to get money from ignorant vulture capitalists, anti anti-human art
I had liked this because the tea party rebellion angle was creative I thought. Then I read your post and went back to it and thought about why that was. Hmm…
Every time some new technology comes around, everybody freaks out like it’s the goddamn apocalypse. “Oh no, AI art is gonna ruin everything!” Yeah? Just like photography was gonna kill painting? Like synthesizers were gonna kill music? Like e-books were gonna burn down libraries? Get a grip!
You know what kills art? Corporations that pay artists in “exposure.” Publishing companies and record labels that wring out creatives like a dirty sponge and toss ‘em when they’re dry. But nah, let’s all lose our shit over some dude making a Boston Tea Party meme with AI. That’s the real crisis.
And can we talk about how AI isn’t even the artist? It’s a tool. You still need some schmuck to prompt it, refine it, and decide what’s worth keeping. It’s just another evolution in art, like digital painting or autotune. You don’t like it? Fine.
But acting like it’s some moral outrage while artists are getting underpaid by actual people is like flipping out about self-checkout while Walmart’s out here union-busting.
Look, if an AI image makes you feel something, guess what? It’s art. Doesn’t matter if it was drawn with a crayon or generated by a robot with a caffeine addiction. Instead of crying about AI “stealing” creativity maybe put that energy into fighting for actual artists—better pay, better protections.

Art is art! You think the Mona Lisa gives a shit if it was made with a brush, a mouse, or some AI code?
