I'm tired out of Star Wars movies and TV shows for reasons completely detached from them "having gone woke/political" or whatever. Andor is fantastic because it actually *is* political in an interesting way, it's a mainstream sci-fi thing that actually *says* something.

Honestly, as long as Season Two stays solid, I could make an argument that all you need from Star Wars would be Andor's two seasons, Rogue One, and A New Hope. It's a full story.

A brilliant antifascist sci-fi story. You start with intelligent bad guys making a coherent-sounding justification of their political system, and then you end with that system's logical conclusion of a planet-killing terror weapon which incites the very people that decide to tear it down.

It shifts the main plot from the rise of Vader and the redemption of the Skywalkers (or whatever the hell "Rise of Skywalker" was on about) to the creation and destruction of the Death Star. It's a better story than "kill the Emperor, win the war."

It puts Luke taking that shot in a wonderful new light. It's still a hero rising to defeat evil, but it's also a saga of countless, nameless, self-sacrificing people giving everything they had to make that victory possible, to 'make a sunrise they knew they'd never see'.

It's also a better use of the Jedi. Assuming that Andor Season 2 doesn't bring in the space wizards, the first time any of them show up is Darth Vader's scenes in Rogue One, making him far more menacing in A New Hope.

...yeah, I think this'll be my Star Wars from now on.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. If someone has "Never seen Star Wars" and you're old school "into Star Wars universe stuff", this is the path to getting someone in. Especially in the way some of us are into this stuff.

The show is a bit slow. There are settings that look more WW2 than Star Wars and you wonder why a goat has three eyes.

The show is mature. It explores the banal face of evil and the people who rise to the occasion to fight it.
It has one of the most memorable characters in recent history.

Andor isn't just good for star wars, it's GOOD. PERIOD. I can't believe it's taken this long to make a show in the universe that explores these themes this well, and just exists aside from the Skywalker story. It made Disney's ownership worth it.

Completely agree. Found out Season 2 of Andor will finally arrive on April 22. I have cancelled my Disney subscription until then.

Not only the best Star Wars show on Disney, but one of my favorite limited TV series ever.

I you haven't seen, watch Season 1 in March so your ready for Season 2.

Phenomenal characters, phenomenal depth, an actual, serious exploration of what the Galaxy under the Empire must be like to actually live in...

"Andor" is easily the best-written entry into the franchise, and the acting is superb. It humanizes the setting in a way no other entry I've seen has done.

The most concise summary of the show I've encountered was, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sith." 🎯
