I'm assuming orientalism because you seem ignorant of history or just how the world works. Half or more of the things you said of Afghanistan and Vietnam apply to Canada. Their being a relatively wealthy country and [increasingly former] ally of the US doesn't change that.
No one is under the illusion that Canada wins the initial military conflict. The belief is that protracted guerilla war - in a country with vast territory and hostile terrain, with likely European allies, and at minimum mass civil unrest in the US - means the US is ultimately defeated.
You like to bring up Vichy France as an analogy, which is amusing. Read up on the French Resistance. Of course, in this context, there are several other differences that are in Canada's favor. The country has already been whipped up into a nationalist fervor, even the bloquistes, lol.
It is true that arms firms make modestly more profits in wartime. This is not a primary motivation for any war ever, as capitalists do not actually control the US govt. There are, obviously, other interests at play.
