It's a game that seems keenly aware of its flaws but is also completely unapologetic about them. In fact, it leans into them so well that even when I knew what was coming, watching it unfold had me at the edge of my seat. (2/5)

It uses every tool available at its disposal to inspire shock, awe and dread, and at no point does it feel like the game is pulling its punches. The lighting, the Dark Place, the sound, the live action clips - every single facet is intricately interwoven and the execution is impeccable. (3/5)
A journey into one's own mind, the idea that we all have a dark presence inside, and in one way or another, we carry The Dark Place with us. Alan Wake 2 is not only my favourite horror game of all time, but it might also be the best one I've played yet. (4/5)
In an industry where games are quickly losing their unique identities to please the masses, this game knows exactly what it wants to be and does not hold back one bit when it comes to its creative vision. This is exactly the kind of creative expression we need more of. (5/5)
