my special technique is messing up one nail just as i'm finishing, then going to clean that one up and repaint only to mess up another nail, then lather/rinse/repeat until i've done them all a second time
I've tried to paint my nails fancy one (1) time (it was thanksgiving and I made them look like a hand turkey) with all the mistakes I made it took me 8 HOURS
Damn it. That happened last time I did mine. My left hand turned out perfect, but I bumped my right thumb, index, and middle finger nails and screwed them all up. I'm going to redo them tomorrow
1 - UV curing nail gel (pros: very similar to regular nail polish)
2 - powder dip epoxy (pros: strong as hell cons: strong as hell)
3 - apply regular nail polish and shove your hands into an air fryer to rapidly dry them via hot air convection (pros: dries faster cons: seems self explanatory)
5th option: I do my nails while listening to a podcast or audiobook right before bed. Finishing the episode or chapter holds me for the 15 minutes and then I also do nothing for 8 hours
cleaning out my grandpa's old room i found little smudges of sparkly blue nail polish on the knobs and handles from all the times i got called in to do a diaper change in the middle of painting my nails lol
As a man I love doing this too, usually the other thing is the table I was painting them on cause I was waving my hands about to get the polish to dry faster so I could put a top coat on π
one of my favorite things to do is fuck my nails up by immediately doing woodworking right after doing my nails and catching them on the big metal file
I began paying to get them done once a month because my life was:
Day 1: Do nails, be paranoid all day, edges are messy
Day 2: Look great
Day 3: Fix one or two nails
Day 4: Fix one or two nails
Day 5: Fix one or two nails
Day 6: Give up, repeat process
here's my strat: simply accept that they'll be a little messy going on, clean them up the next day after they're fully set (it basically just falls off your skin anyway), then ride them out until they're ratty enough that you want to replace them. fool proof strategy, very little money
My fight game finishing move is "no, I can totally get something out of my pocket. I'll just use this pen here to hold the pocket open while I carefully reach in and GODDAMMIT"

Thereβs a reason I go to a manicure place when I can.
Run those freshly painted nails under a cold faucet for half a minute.

Once, I didn't even make it out the door without scuffing them on grip tape
