Oh, that makes perfect sense. Prior to AI being used so much, groups/orgs/companies would simply employ "social media" companies to create fakes to do the same type of thing. Now, it's much cheaper & quicker to use AI instead. The profit-mongering, while not surprising, is still horrific to see.
