Many margins have been changed due to the redistribution. Menzies also flipped from Lib to ALP for the same reason. It’s standard psephological practice. It’s clearly explained in the guide. It would be misleading to ignore the impact of the redistribution. ABC does the same thing.

No probs at all. It’s my electorate. Once had a row on Twitter with a Teal thinking Bennelong was still a Liberal seat. Apologies for language but journalist/blogger standards so low IMHO.

I think my standards are pretty high. Bennelong is quite interesting. If you look at the chart in the Bennelong guide, the dotted green line shows my estimate of how the 2025 boundaries would’ve voted since 2004. Howard would’ve been re-elected in 2007 on these boundaries.

But Lane Cove is much less Liberal now than it was in 2007 so it only slightly hurts Labor rather than hurting them a lot.

It’s only Lib by 84 votes on AEC estimates. I volunteered on Jerome’s campaign in 2022. He’s got great recognition as a former Ryde mayor. I also volunteered on Maxine’s campaign in 2007. The boundary and demographic changes helped but now the tide has turned eastwards again. Jerome for the win.
