I saw also some confusion about it: This is a standard, not a proprietary format. Nintendo made high access speed a requirement here, hence the SD Express card requirement, and I don't think it's bad.

What I'm not a fan of is the lack of options, Sony got it right - you can play PS4 games from HDD just fine on PS5, you can even store PS5 games on it.
Feels like N not wanting to bother than anything.
Sounds like a good move when NVME SSD's weren't as cheap initially, kinda like what we see with Express for now.
But I get it. But imo it's not a huge bother.
No need to panic buy right away.
At the very least this is technology that will be very useful for other handhelds
