thank you! And I agree, watercolors create the COOLEST textures -- I find them kind of unwieldy for giant areas, but I really like adding them right at the end to make a piece feel more watercolor-y
That sounds like a great way to do it! Watercolours have such beautiful colours and I'm especially fascinated with super granulated ones, so satisfying to look at!
I agree -- watercolors are so much fun, and each color behaves a little differently, too, so it's crazy how many possibilities there are. But starting with gouache before using WC lets me have the best of both worlds: the control of gouache for large shapes, the fun of WC for small ones
It's actually a combination of Daniel Smith "german greenish raw umber," "phthalo turquoise," "prussian green," burnt umber and black. Using different amounts of each mixture as I go and deliberately letting my brush be muddy inbetween creates the splotchiness 💛
