Hazel Winifred Johnson-Brown (10/1927–8/2011) A nurse & educator who served in the from 1955 to 1983. In 1979, she became the 1st Black female general in the US Army and the 1st Black chief of the US Army Nurse Corps. She was also the Director of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Nursing.
